🏁 Review Conclusions -Overview
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in the UK, Revolut operates in 160 countries and provides its services to 65 million customers and 500 thousand businesses. The structure of Revolut includes three separate corporate entities: Revolut Trading Ltd is the core investment firm authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN: 933846). However, there are also two more companies, Revolut Ltd, also regulated by the FCA UK, and Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd (RDAEL), regulated by CySEC. The reason there are three separate entities instead of one has to do with legislation related to offering cryptocurrency products.
As concerns its asset index, Revolut offers thousands of stocks worldwide and a good variety of ETFs. There are also over 280 cryptocurrencies and four precious metals. What is particularly interesting is the ability to invest in over 20 government bonds. You can also exchange and hold 25+ different currencies, but without the ability to use capital leverage. However, capital leverage is available when trading other financial assets: 1:5 leverage for CFDs on stocks, 1:20 leverage for trading gold, and 1:20 leverage for CFDs on major indices. It must be pointed out that Revolut offers expensive trading fees compared to traditional exchanges, meaning it is not suited for intraday traders.
Concerning its trading platforms, both the desktop and mobile platforms are fully featured and easy to use. Apart from placing market or pending orders, you have the opportunity to access useful tools, news, and fundamental analysis reports. As concerns funding your Revolut account, the process is very straightforward, as you have access to multiple IBAN account numbers, meaning your Revolut account operates like a regular bank account. You can also add funds using a debit/credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Final Verdict
After opening an account with them and depositing some funds, I can say that I found their services quite interesting. I like the fact that you can track so many stocks and ETFs very rapidly, as well as the fact that you can earn interest on your cash, compared to Skrill and PayPal, where I get no interest on my free cash. Additionally, it is interesting that you can stake certain cryptocurrencies and earn a small annual income. Overall, Revolut is a good choice for long-term investors, especially those who plan to invest in stocks and ETFs. Revolut is NOT a good choice for intraday traders, auto-traders, or those who plan to trade Foreign Exchange currencies.
